With the advent of VR and GAFAM popularizing metaverses as the solution for total immersion at the cost of our attention, this thesis takes the opposite approach to understand what immersion is, whether it is possible to have a healthy and ecological* relationship with it and to study an alternative immersive world through an online role-playing game community: Esperia.

Following the writing of the thesis and my field study, I realized the importance of the notion of being "together" to create an ecological immersion, whether through co-creation, the maintenance of the space by and for the community. I decided to continue my research by focusing on the creation and management of the imagination as a common resource whose approach can be found here (French only).
